Eastern Water Skink

Eastern Water Skink

Well, the lizards are out and that is a sure sign that spring is here. Actually, it is a skink. It is known as the Common or Eastern Water Skink although they were not that common when I was growing up. I think the expansion of suburbia across their habitat has forced them to adapt and live where they can whether it be houses or schools.

Just after I had put my camera away this chap arched his back just above his rear legs and I though he was about to bolt for some food however he “dropped a tosca” that looked quite similar to a bird dropping.
